ルクソールの2回目は、市内にあるルクソール神殿を取り上げる。ルク ソールにはもう一つ、より大きなカルナック神殿があり、ルクソール神殿はカルナック神殿に付属したものといわれている。ここにはもともと2本のオベリスク（石で作った 針のように尖った塔）があったのだが、その一本は1830年にフランス政府に寄贈され、今はパリのコンコルド広場に立っている。
　エジプトの遺跡というと、それまでピラミッドのように巨大でのっぺりとしたものしか見ていなかったので、ルクソール神殿の繊細な彫り物や、列柱の並ぶ建 築的な空間作りはハッとさせられた。

    The second installment for Luxor covers the Luxor Temple.  There is yet another temple called Karnak Temple in Luxor, and the Luxor Temple is said to be part of this Karnak Temple.  There used to be two obelisks at the Luxor Temple, but one of them were give to the French as a gift, and is now erected in Concord Square in Paris.
    .  As I had only seen the big and simple structures such as Pyramids, I was surprised to see the delicate carvings and dynamic spatial design at the Luxor Temple.
