東京の中心部、山手線の渋谷から原宿にかけては若者の町として知られる。渋谷駅から公園通りと呼ばれる緩い坂道を上がっていくと、上がりきっ たあたりがNHKの放送センター。その横をつき抜けるように通り真っすぐな道は代々木公園につながる。その道を公園に入らずに右の方に行くと、明治神宮の 入口を経てJRの原宿駅だ。原宿は昔、歩行者天国（略してホコ天）で人気者となった若者のグループがたいてい竹下通りで仕入れた衣服や古着を着ていたこと から若者の町として全国区になった。最近は表参道ヒルズなどのニュースもあって、話題に事欠かない。
　さて、この町をぶらぶらと歩いてみよう。大人の休日＠若者の町というわけだが、どうしてなかなか町に溶け込むというわけにはいかない。自分がその場所に 属していないという感覚、異物感というか場所違いというか、迷い込んでしまったような感じがする。やっぱり歩きなれた町がいいかな。

    Shibuya and Harajuku are known as a youngster's town.  Going up a gentle slope of Park Street and leading to the broadcasting center of NHK. and further reach Yoyogi Park.  This is a huge park but make a right turn before entering it, then you reach the entrance to Meiji Shrine (where you could make a wish, if you will) and then Harajuku Station.  Harajuku became famous among the young when groups of performers in the "Pedestrian Paradise " (meaning that ordinary streets are closed off from cars and made available for pedestrians on weekends) were in the media.  Most of them were wearing clothes  sold in small boutiques in Harajuku.
    I took a walk from Shibuya to Harajuku.  I found it a little difficult to make myself feel at home.  I feel some kind of alienation - feeling that I am in a place where I do not belong.  Oh well, I really don't belong here anyway.
