ルクソールには一回行っただけだ。初日に川向こうの王家の谷とルクソール神殿を、そして二日目の午前中にカルナック神殿を回っ た。今日はそのなかからカルナック神殿をとりあげよう。
　カルナック神殿はルクソール神殿の「本殿」ともいうべきもので、いわばルクソールの遺跡群の中心にあたる。カルナック神殿は中王朝より2000年にもわ たって、建設・拡張・修復を繰り返してきたのだそうだ。カルナックに 関わったファラオたちは、トトメス1世、トトメス2世、トトメス3 世、ハトシェプスト、アメンヘテプ3世、ラムセス1世、ラムセス2世、ラムセス3世、プトレマイオス2世、プトレマイオス3世、ティベリウスと、名だたる ファラオが勢ぞろいだ。その中でもラムセス2世は大王とも称させるキング・オブ・キングスだ。カルナック神殿にはラムセス2世の足跡があちこちに見られ る。
　ピラミッドや大スフィンクスなど、大造りで荒削りな造形を見慣れた目に、カルナック神殿の繊細かつ図学的な構成は目を見張るものがある。それではご一緒 にツアーに出かけよう。

   .I went to Luxor only once.  On the first day I went to the West bank of the Nile where there are graves of the Phraohs and thence to Luxor Temple, and on the second day I visited the Karnak Temple in the morning. 
    The Karnak Temple is the central piece of the phraonic ruins in Luxor, so to speak.  For about 2,000 years since the Middle Kingdom years, the temple was subject to construction, expansion and rehabilitation.  There are a number of Pharaohs who put their fingers on this temple, the most notable of whom is probably the Ramses II, the Great Pharaoh.
    In contrast to the bulky stuff like the Pyramids and Sphinx, the Karnak Temple is the most finest and architectural.  Let us now go on a trip to the Karnak Temple.
