　カイロのイスラム地区は歴史的な町並みとして世界遺産に指定されている。その中心に位置するのが、フセイン寺院と広場で、高いミナレットが目印だ。この広場に繋がっている路地の一つがハーン・ハリーリだ。ハーンとは商隊宿のこと、ハリーリは人名で、ハリーリの商隊宿ができたことによってこの地区が商店街として発展したというわけだ。
　ハーン・ハリーリは賑やかな路地だ。客引きの声やお土産やおもちゃの音、観光客の発する外国の言葉、お祈りを誘うアザーンの声、などなど。この路地を歩いていると、本当にいろいろな音が聞こえてくる。そんな音を思い出しながら写真を集めてみた。本当の音が聞きたい人は・・・・現地に行ってください。

The Islamic Cairo is part of the old city of Cairo which is registered as the World Heritage by UNESCO. In the center of the old city is a mosque called Khusein Mosque, with a large square in front. Khan Khalili is a lane leading to this square. Khan is an old inn for the caravan, and shops gathered around this inn to make this area very busy.
Khan Khalili is a busy street with many sounds. There are voices of guys calling for their merchandise, sounds of toys and instruments, visitors voices in many a foreign languages, and so on. As you walk in this lane you may hear hundred of different sounds. I put together photos remembering the busy and noisy lane of Khan Khalili. If you want to hear the sounds, you may as well go there yourself.
