　テルアビブの町の印象を一言でいえば、モダン・アートな町ということかもしれない。町中がちょいとファンキーなアートで飾られているのだ。そ の中心に位置しているのは、テルアビブ美術館だろう。ユダヤ人画家・シャガールの収蔵が多いのは特徴的だが、それに限らず世界中のさまざまな美術品を幅広 く展示していて、見ごたえがある。写真展も充実している。町に出ても、アートは溢れる一方だ。特にカルメル市場の裏道理などは、通りそのものを芸術家に占 領されてしまったような感じだ。パリのモンマルトルとちょっと雰囲気が似ている。海岸沿いは若者中心のポップな町。町が美術館の屋外展示場のようだ、とい えばいいのかもしれない。今回は写真をお見せできないが、建築もなかなかパンクなものが多い。

.   My impression of Tel Aviv in short is the city of modern art.  The city is full of funky goods of art, and in the center is the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.  The museum has not only a good collection of Chagall, the jewish artist., but also many other classical and contemporary artists.  Photography is also well covered in the museum.  Out in the city, there are even more arts.  In the back alleys of Caramel Market, there a dozens of stalls and carts selling artistic items.  The city is in a sense like the extension of the museum.
