東京は大都会、コンクリート・ジャングルだという。確かに上を向けば高層ビルはニョキニョキと空に届くくらいに聳えているし、下を見ればアス ファルトとコンクリートで草の根が入りこむ隙間さえもない。そう、東京は大都会、正真正銘のコンクリート・ジャングルかもしれない。しかし本当にそうだろ うか。
　実は東京には意外と自然がたくさんある。そして、季節ごとに姿や色を変える。それに気が付かないのは、大都会に暮らす人々が忙しすぎるからではないだろ うか。 駅と会社の往復から外れて、公園や庭園を歩いてみよう。早春なら菜の花、春は桜、そして新緑。夏には陽射しをさえぎる暑い緑陰が、そして秋には紅葉が色づ く。東京ってそんなに自然がゆたかだったんだ。気づいていないだけなんですよ、ね。

    Tokyo is a mega-city, a concrete jangle -- so they say.  Indeed, looking up there are skyscrapers reaching to the sky, and looking down the road is paved with asphalt with  no space for grass roots to go into.  They may be right in saying it is a concrete jungle.  But is it really so?
    There are surprisingly much nature in Tokyo.  The natural things turn colors as the seasons drag by.  If you don't notice it, you may be leading a life that is too busy to notice little things.  Why not taking a walk in the morning away from the ordinary path from the station to the office.  VIsit a park or a garden.  In early spring you  may see spring colors there., followed maybe by cherry blossoms.  The hot summer day may find thick green cover, that may turn yellow or red in the fall.  Tokyo has so much natural beauty that may surprise you -- if you are ready to find.
