Bombay has a number of architecture tracing back to
the British Colonial days. One of the representative of such is
the Victoria Terminus, which is on the world heritage list of
UNESCO. Others include churches, hotels and movie houses.
When you take a walk in Bombay, you may often find an old piece of
colonial architecture here and there.
The first railway in India was build in 1853 or 20
years earlier than in Japan. The fist line was between Bombay and
Thane. Victoria Terminus was built some years afterwards, so they
say. The building that is on the UNESCO list has minute sands
stone carvings and the arches supporting the dome looked more like a
church than a railway station.
I took a walk to see the British Colonial
architecture in Bombay.
